With the Citi Executive credit card, I get year-round access to American Airlines Admirals Club. Even though the annual fee is $450, it is still less expensive than paying for a club membership, especially for two people (household is $1,250 without elite status). The food is usually pretty basic, nothing like the Marco Polo Club Lounge in Venice airport, one of the best airline clubs I have been in, but at least the non-premium booze is free, which takes the edge off of the anxiety of getting on a long flight eastbound.
Of note are the made-to-order specialties like the avocado & chips setup in the afternoon and the avocado toasts in the morning. You can choose your toppings for your avocado toast like smoked salmon and crumbled hard-boiled eggs. You may want to request the maker to put the egg on the avocado smash first, as if it is topped last, it falls all over the place when eating.
