Across from One World Trade, there is a very high end shopping center, Brookfield Place, with a wonderful French market, food hall, and restaurant called Le District. On the summer day that I visited, the weather was perfect, so I snagged a table on the patio outside. It was ideal for people watching and enjoying the sidewalk cafe ambiance. It reminded me of Café de Flore in Paris, with small marble (or zinc?) bistro tables and French brasserie food, but better!
The croque madame exceeded on all levels compared to the smaller, more expensive version at Café de Flore (below), which didn’t even come with a salad.
